Multiple Streams of Income Online

What is the internet if it isn’t a ‘garden of earthly delights’. Everything is here at our fingertips that we can possibly imagine. I have always loved the Beatles’ lyrics, “arrive without traveling”. Truly, this is an entirely appropriate description of the internet.
As time has gone by, I have found more and more resources online. The natural progression for me after email, shopping, research, banking, and job search, is to even earn an income online! Actually it was the job search that finally did it. As they say, it’s a job trying to find a job.
I decided it was the perfect time to start what I thought in the beginning would be a part-time business. As I wasted more time looking at job postings and sending my resume, I began to encounter home business and work at home advertisements. This idea has appealed to me for a long time before this juncture.
However, I believe it was my most recent on the job experience, and subsequent absence of ‘luck’ in finding even a lateral opportunity that convinced me - I am going to make a ‘job’ and I am not going to subject myself to the stress and futility of ‘working for the man’ EVER again, God willing.
So, I found the path and began my journey. One word that stuck with me throughout has been ‘diversify’. I first thought this meant, join several affiliate programs, so I did . I also thought it meant use a lot of different strategies, and so I did. This quickly progressed into acquiring some domains to start some websites, and I did so.
Then I was exposed to the concept of multiple streams of income. This definitely is related to ‘diversify’. This was the way to go, at least to the next plateau in building a business. I had multiple websites that are dissociated and I know now this was premature in that it requires more expense - for advertising, for maintenance, etc. A friend said to me: You know the phrase, ‘ready, aim, fire’? Well, newbies do ‘ready, fire, aim’. Uh-huh, well thousands of dollars later, I am living proof!
Now I have a website that offers 5 different streams of income in one place. Advertise once, pay maintenance fees once. Everything I do to promote my site, subsequently exposes my prospects to all of these programs and services, which they may choose individually, or as a package like I did. It’s money either way.
Multiple streams of income provides leverage. If one thing isn’t going too well, there is a chance others will carry the day. Everything was coming up roses, right? Well, yes, for a good little part-time job. It takes time to learn the effective strategies - some by instruction, more so in my case, by trial and error. It takes time to learn and use the right resources. It takes still more time to build momentum. You mean it is not just throw up a site and they will come?
Problem with the part-time job plan was by this time, my full-blown, total addiction to working from home online - and with no distractions like a dumb day job just to keep the roof over my head and/or to help finance my budding business! Although it was entirely necessary (and getting desperate) to have resources, the idea of a day job grew more and more reprehensible.
The few interviews I did get, I began to sub-consciously self-sabotage. The more they leaned forward (a sign of interest) the quicker I would say something stupid and watch them wilt. At first I would just chide myself on the way to the car, ‘dimwit! why did you have to say that?’ After a few times, I would just laugh. The last time, I got lost on the way to the interview - not the best first impression, either being clueless or being late. I knew I didn’t do it on purpose, but this was when I realized, I can’t go back, I can only move forward.
What was I to do - Diversify! Buy one more domain! Exercise my options - Generate more multiple streams of income. This time, it can’t be like marketing, where you put money out and hope for an ROI at some point (and support yourself somehow in the meantime) . I needed money now, something I could just do the work and get paid. (just like a j-o-b)
I had seen the new job category ‘virtual assistant’ - now doesn’t that sound like something you can do from home to earn an income online! So I thought of all the skills that I had learned over the years, the things that I really feel I do well, and especially the things I like to do most. I offered to do them for some of the people who were already earning (substantial) money from internet marketing. Kind of low key - “I have a new website, this is the url…”, “if you ever need any help…” or “if you know of anyone…” - This was my bingo moment! This worked and it would work right now!
So within my portfolio or multiple streams of income online, there is even a day job I do from home! It was like all the praying and anxiety cancelled each other out, and I had my ‘ticket to ride’. I now earn ‘decent’ income from home as a virtual assistant. This pays the bills. This keeps me from worrying about how I will survive while I build my internet marketing businesses. In fact this IS PART OF my internet marketing business. One of my best (at this point) multiple streams of income!
Rags to Riches! With this income, combined with my other online income, I have already replaced the salary I received with many years of experience from mega-corporations! In only 2 years working from home online! I am where I wanted to be and now, I can move on up from here. I love the way internet marketers say ’see you at the top’ - and we really all believe we will get to the top of our game. Maybe not today, or even tomorrow, but we WILL get there someday! …and it is so much fun getting there!
Setting achievable goals, planning, and taking consistent action toward your goals - that is the formula to produce multiple streams of income online or anywhere else for that matter. Never think you will have to give up your dreams and accept drudgery as your punishment. Know you CAN do what you set out to do - if you encounter obstacles, don’t let them stop you - resolve them, and if you can’t, just go around them - think of another way to go to get where you want to be!
