Analyzing Your Website

Analyzing your website and marketing campaigns to see what works best and what methods benefit you the most, is referred to as website analytics. Taking the scientific approach is how the experts go about focusing their resources in the right direction.

Website analytics is studying  the impact that a website has on its visitors and/or users. This could be for example,  which products generate the most cash, how well your new opt-in page attracts new subscribers, which links they are or are not clicking, or how much response you get to a particular ad.

Website analytics can be done both manually, or by using different software. Many prefer a mix of those two methods. Google even has a free application called appropriately, ‘Google Analytics’.

Understanding your visitors behavior is critical to your success online. Monitoring the number of visitors, and from where they came, understanding how they navigate through your site and what keywords they searched for to be brought by the search engines to your site are examples of the analysis you need to do.

For example, if you find they do come, but they don’t stay, find out what content you could add to hold their interest. If your site says that you are an expert, or even if you have relevant information to your products, this may help. Remember, building trust leads to sales.

Advertising effectiveness is also very important so that you do not waste your advertising dollars on ads that don’t work. Website analytics will enable you to find out how your website ranks in the organic, as well as the pay per click searches. Which keywords that you use for AdWords ads are being clicked on the most and which of your products or  programs generate the most profit?

Evaluating your sales is imperative. Obviously your objective is to win sales and you want to produce as many sales as you can with the highest profit. You need to know your prospect’s behavior and learn which areas of your website are most attractive to people.

If you don’t feel you are capable of making these determinations,  or don’t have time to analyze your site  find someone to do it for you. Choose carefully to identify a trustworthy and competent analytics company or consultant. Verify their testimonials and ask for telephone numbers of people who have used their services, so you can check their references thoroughly. Be certain to choose a qualified vendor who you can communicate with effectively and define your specific business needs.

Having clearly defined goals is the way to strategize and run a successful business. Website analytics is one major component in formulating your business plan.
